SISTER-NOMIC$™ PROGRAM

Are you your sister’s keeper? Yes, you are! We believe we have a responsibility to have our financial house in order, as well as to help the women in our community to do the same! 

The NCBW-SF Local chapter initiative, Sister-Nomic$, is the NCBW philosophical mindset to consider ourselves FIRST in all economic decisions. We consider Sister-Nomic$ our path to economic empowerment.

Doris Ward Workforce Development Program

The Doris Ward Workforce Development Employment & Training Program focuses on women ages 21- 59 to provide pipelines to employment. Some training topics include: 

  • Self-Assessment, Self- Esteem and Confidence Coaching 
  • Resume Writing
  • Effective Communication
  • Interviewing Skills
  • Negotiation Skills
  • Business Ethics/Customer Service

Qualified Participants also receive a $500 weekly stipend. 

Named after Doris Ward, member of the San Francisco Board of Supervisors and the first African-American president of the board. She was also an active member of the San Francisco Chapter of NCBW. She was a  lifelong advocate for jobs, education, and housing for black women.
