Each year, our chapter honors individuals from the San Francisco Bay Area
for their outstanding leadership in the areas of business, civil rights,
community relations, and education.

On *March 11, 2023*an important tradition will continue in San Francisco – our
18th Annual Golden Girls Hats and Gloves Tea. Approximately 300 guests will
be in attendance at the historic Fairmont Hotel San Francisco.

Our event recognizes phenomenal women and girls who positively impact their
community, personify self-esteem, self-respect and continue to be an
inspiration to girls everywhere.

In true High Tea style, guests will arrive in high fashion and dine on an
assortment of Finger Sandwiches, Petit Fours, Scones and Tea. This
celebration will recognize several phenomenal women and one “Golden Girl” for
their contributions that have enriched all of our lives and distinguished
themselves within our communities. Their work exemplifies our organization’s
vision as a force for gender equity, our mission of advocating leadership
development and our values of living and modeling are critical to the
success of women and girls of color.

Proceeds from this fundraiser will be used to fund Chapter programming for
over 2,000 Women and Girls of Color who participate in our main programs:

• Doris Ward Workforce Development and Job Training Program –
  Three-month paid job training and hospitality apprentice program for 10
  underemployed and unemployed Black Women between the ages of 18-59. Since
  2011, 60% of graduates were employed.
• *Health *- Strategies to counter health disparities of
  Black/African-American Women and their families: advocate for more funding
  for education and research in the areas of Breast Cancer, Diabetes, Sickle
  Cell and Mental Health Service for the Homeless.
• Saving the Dream – African American Rites of Passage – Youth
  empowerment and cultural enrichment program for 25 Black girls, between the
  ages of 10 thru 18. The core of this eight-week program is to assist each
  mentee in the development of their academic achievements, positive cultural
  and social skills critical for their individual success.
• Sister-Nomic$ – Reaching over 300+ underbanked and underbanked Black
  Women and girls through financial education and empowerment programs in
  areas of general financial literacy, home ownership, and small business
  education.
