OUR ACTIVITIES
Walking While Black
The NCBW San Francisco Chapter is committed to improving relationships in our community with law enforcement. We look for opportunities to be part of the solution and when we learned of the documentary film “Walking While Black: Love is the Answer” by A.J. Ali and Errol Weber, we knew that we had to bring this film to our community. We are developing a partnership with the NAACP SF branch to screen the film – once during the school day for the college students and once in the evening; we will invite community partners. Following the screening, we will gather a panel of local city officials, law enforcement, community leaders and students for a discussion on how we can bridge the gap between the minority community and law enforcement using tactics described in the film. We will be showing the film during the 2019 – 2020 school years at local churches and other community venues.

Awards Ceremony
The San Francisco Chapter acknowledges women who have significantly affected the community during our Annual Golden Girls’ Hats & Gloves Tea: “Bridging the Generations.” This event celebrates women of commitment and achievement; Senator Kamala Harris, U.S. Presidential candidate (2020) has been a past honoree.
Rock the Red Pump Day
On March 10th of each year, our Country acknowledges National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day. Launched by the Office of Women’s Health, this nationwide observance encourages people to take action in the fight against the HIV/AIDS epidemic and raise awareness of its impact on women and girls. In observance of the day, the Coalition recommends and advocates for additional support of HIV/AIDS awareness educational programs. Through our partnerships, we reach out to our contacts and encourage 501c3 organizations to show their support and spread awareness for the need to increase our educational programs for women and girls. While promoting awareness, we support the Rock the Red Pump project, which provides trained health professionals to come out to community events to conduct educational workshops and distribute information.
